South Asia Speaks x Reportagen Fellowship

2025

The South Asia Speaks Foundation and Reportagen magazine are pleased to announce the South Asia Speaks x Reportagen Fellowship 2025. The fellowship offers emerging writers from South Asia the opportunity to develop impactful non-fiction narratives for publication in the German-language magazine Reportagen.

The fellowship is currently open to South Asia Speaks fellows and alumni and will award $1,000 each to three selected writers to support the research for their stories, which must be original and unpublished. Fellows will collaborate with Reportagen’s experienced editorial staff to refine their stories, and an additional fee will be provided upon publication.​

Applications for the South Asia Speaks x Reportagen Fellowship will open on October 1 and close on October 31, 2024. Writers must submit a pitch detailing the central narrative, protagonists, and main conflict of their proposed story, along with a sample of their best published work. The pitch should be emailed to sasreportagen@gmail.com.

​About Reportagen: Reportagen is a Swiss bi-monthly magazine founded in 2011 and focuses exclusively on narrative nonfiction. The magazine has no pictures, all texts are enriched by illustrations. To know more please visit www.reportagen.com.

About Rahul Bhatia: Rahul Bhatia is the author of The New India, and the winner of the 2024 True Story Award. He was a 2022-23 non-fiction fellow at the Harvard Radcliffe Institute.

About Daniel Puntas Bernet: Daniel Puntas Bernet is founder and Editor-in-Chief of Reportagen and initiator of the True Story Award, a global award for journalists all over the world.
